Super Joey Foundation Chess Event

On April 2nd, 2023, Impact Chess partnered with the Super Joey Foundation—a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families in the USA who are affected by childhood cancer—on their second chess charity tournament at the Bayspring community center in Rhode Island! The event lasted from 2:00pm to 4:30pm with 17 players and raised $366 dollars. We sold homemade goods and snacks such as chips and gummies, which many people bought.

For many, this was their first or second tournament ever. Our two Impact Chess representatives, Ryan and Tianna Wang, taught and played training games with those who received a bye. Ryan did the pairings while Tianna was the main TD, and our friends from the Super Joey Foundation were also TDs and managed all the registration. Everyone helped to make this the best first chess tournament experience possible, and those who came loved it!
