Fundraising:

  • Purpose: to buy more equipment and chess sets to donate to underprivileged communities

  • Eric sent an email to Hamilton Jewelers and got ghosted (common Eric L)

  • Send emails to small businesses who you think can help fundraise

    •  Doesn’t matter if they donate a small sum of money, we can put them on our website as partners to create more credibility

New Event Idea:

  • GM Andrew Tang agreed to do an event with us

    • one of our advisors

    • 46k followers on Twitch

    • Great for our platform, would build community engagement and would get our name out there

    • would pay him 100 or so bucks but it’s worth it

  • Idea #1: A simul on Lichess with Andrew

    • Easier to organize

    • Might be more exciting

  • Idea #2: A potential Andrew v. Jeffrey Xiong (an advisor) chess match

    • Live streamed on both sides on twitch and could both answer questions within their streams

    • Would maximize engagement

    • Harder to organize?

    • Less interactive (would need some form of commentary to explain what’s going on) - Winston

      • “we should give them shots to make it more exciting” - Rochelle

  • Need feedback on the viability of these events

    • We can get them to do their respective events or we can have a chess match between them (need voting for this)

  • Andrew is available until Sept 2nd (school starts for him)

Reminder: have further discussion and vote on this ASAP as we don’t have a whole lot of time until September rolls around

  • Member of the Week system

    • Everyone is a member of this week (thanks Eric!)

  • Decided on biweekly meetings from now on – should have a recurring meeting schedule

  • Eric got an asymmetrical haircut
