Context

Our world has become more and more polarized and motivated by hatred, anger, and ignorance. During these times, chess could help communities become more logical and sympathetic. Students are the most impressionable people, and by educating the next generation with critical thinking, creativity, logic, grit, and pattern recognition skills, we can make a brighter future for all of us. Chess doesn't discriminate by race. Chess doesn’t discriminate by money, fame, nor power. Chess doesn’t discriminate by language or location. Anyone who has a functioning brain can play chess and have an equal opportunity as everyone else.

“Impact Chess embodies the spirit of non sibi, which means ‘not for self.’ Our goal is to make a positive impact upon our world through the proliferation of chess.”

— Eric Wu, founder, 2021
